Disability Access and Inclusion

The Shire of Toodyay Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) is a planned approach to progressively improve access to facilities, services, buildings and community events for those living with disabilities.

As part of the Shire’s DAIP, a state-of-the-art Changing Place – a unisex toilet facility featuring an adult change table, hoist, and space for two-person assistance – is now located in Toodyay, giving disabled persons more freedom within our community.

You can find the Toodyay Changing Place in the Duke Street public toilet block, off Charcoal Lane. A master key for those without a Disability Services Commission key card may be borrowed from the Toodyay Visitor’s Centre on Piesse Street.

Disability Support

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), run by the National Disability Insurance Agency, is a free government program providing personalised support to those with disabilities. As of January 2017, the NDIS is available in Toodyay for residents aged up to 65.
