Water tanks
Installing a rainwater tank on your property provides you with an excellent localised source of water. Rainwater can be a supplementary or sole water supply, depending on the size of your collection system, the amount of rainfall in your area, and the efficiency of your household water use.
Many rural properties are not provided with scheme water and must rely on a rainwater tank, a bore supply, water delivery or a combination of all three.
So, collecting rainwater can be a cost effective option in these areas.
Building
Rainwater tanks larger than 5,000L now require building approval. In some cases, (usually in rural areas) installation of a rainwater tank may also require planning approval (if not within setback requirements only).
