Join our team as the Community Development Officer at the Shire of Toodyay!

The Shire is seeking a passionate and experienced Community Development Officer to lead community focused initiatives.  With a number of sporting clubs and community groups who we work with, plus a range of exciting events planned, it’s a great time to come on board and help facilitate and deliver positive outcomes to the Toodyay community.

 What You'll Do:

  • Develop partnerships and networks with a range of stakeholders including government and community organisations 
  • Prepare relevant strategies and plans including a new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan
  • Be the community contact for the Shire’s Community Funding Program
  • Distribute information and raise awareness in the community about available funding programs, resources, support and other opportunities
  • Plan and implement community focused services and activities that are responsive to community needs
  • Guide and mentor community groups towards sustainability and self sufficiency

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Highly developed communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills including influencing, advocating and resolving conflict
  • Well developed research, analytical and report writing skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role – local government experience desirable
  • Knowledge of preparing grant applications, with a developing knowledge of grant and government funding application processes
  • Strong computer literacy

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Formal qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Current WA ‘C’ Class driver’s licence.
  • National Police Clearance.
  • Working with Children Check
  • Pre-employment medical.

 Desirable

  • Experience working in community development, sport and recreation or community services
  • Experience dealing with statutory bodies and government departments
  • Established community networks
  • Desktop publishing skills
