At a Special Council Meeting on Wednesday 6th November, the Council of the Shire of Toodyay resolved to change the current structure for administering the Shire to ensure an appropriate structure is in place.
Please refer to our restricted and prohibited burning periods for dates when camping will be allowed again.

The Shire of Toodyay is currently reviewing its Local Heritage Survey (formerly known as the Municipal Inventory) and Heritage List. The Shire invites nominations and submissions by 4.00pm on Monday 28 October 2024.
For entry into the Toodyay Waste Transfer Station simply show proof of ownership or residency within the Shire of Toodyay, eg. your rates notice, driver's licence, or utility bill.
Road improvements along Toodyay-Bindi Bindi Road
The Shire of Toodyay hereby gives notice of its intention to impose differential rates and minimum rates on all rateable gross rental valued (GRV) and unimproved-valued (UV) properties within its boundaries during the 2024/25 financial year.

CHANGES TO BUSHFIRE WARNINGS
Toodyay recently achieved the status of a recognised Wildflower Friendly Town. Although in its infancy, the scheme is designed to increase nature based tourism in Western Australia by encouraging local governments to protect our valuable wildflowers and native vegetation along roads and in nature reserves for the enjoyment of visitors and locals.
Toodyay Rangers are Currently checking dog and cat registrations throughout the Shire.
Identification of all livestock is required by law under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management (Identification and Movement of Stock and Apiaries) Regulations 2013 [BAM (IMSA) Regulations].
As Toodyay has developed with more sealed roads, car parks and housing the resulting increase in volume and velocity of stormwater run-off discharge has created a range of environmental issues.
Toodyay is a town with many claims to fame, and locals Hazel and Michael McKone are the minds behind one a little more unusual than the rest. Housed in an unassuming shed on their sprawling property on Bindi Bindi Road is the sole alpaca fleece spinning mill in Western Australia – and it’s accompanied, of course, by a herd of the friendly and fleecy animals themselves.
On 17 January 1871 the Road Districts Act was gazetted. This divided the State into Districts. On 29 January of the same year, the Toodyay Road District boundaries were described and on 15 February the first election for membership of the Toodyay Road Board was held.
The Shire of Toodyay is one of the two WA towns to have achieved ‘wildflower-friendly’ status as a result of the 2020-21 Wildflower Friendliness Award Scheme
Did you know that, amongst building fantastic recreation centers, maintaining roads, and providing beautiful public spaces, one of the other roles the Shire performs is compliance.
In order to complete these works a closure of the intersection is necessary to all traffic entering or exiting Racecourse Rd. A detour will be in place to direct traffic via Sandplain Rd for the duration. The closure will be in place from Friday April 16 to Friday April 30, for affected drivers, please allow additional journey time for your trip.
Permits are required and are currently only being issued for the burning of stubble and chaff for crop preparation purposes for Primary producers.

P&C members approved a donation of $16,000 for facility improvements at Toodyay District High School at the P&C term one members meeting on 2 March.
