Are you determined to make a difference in the Shire of Toodyay?

The Shire’s Local Government Ordinary Election will be held on 21 October 2023, to fill three (3) Council vacancies. Candidate nominations open August 31.

To help inform and prepare prospective candidates across the State, the WA Local Government Association (WALGA), together with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) and the WA Electoral Commission (WAEC) is hosting an Election Candidate Information Briefing webinar on Monday August 14 at 6.00pm. The program for this webinar includes: 

  • The Importance of Local Government in Western Australia (Minister for Local Government the Hon. David Michael)
  • The Importance of Councillors to Communities (WALGA President Karen Chappel)
  • Becoming a Local Government Councillor in 2023: Process and Key Dates (WA Electoral Commissioner Robert Kennedy, Election Events Manager Phil Richards)
  • The Purpose of Local Government, the Role of an Elected Member, and Conflicts of Interest (WALGA representatives)
  • The Role of DLGSC as Regulator of the Local Government Act and Regulations; Compliance Provisions for Candidates and Elected Members (DLGSC representatives)

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions during and after the session.

We encourage all community members interested in nominating for Council, or interested in the process, to register for the webinar. Once registered, you will receive login instructions for the day.
