The general message which we are receiving is not to donate goods. Gift cards and financial donations are what is needed most. Gift cards can be distributed easily and quickly for immediate purchases.
The Bendigo bank can now accept gift card donations to the big retail chains eg Coles, Woolworths, BigW, K-Mart, Bunnings and Officeworks (school and home office supplies).
This type of financial donation means there is no waste and people are able to purchase what they need, when they need it. Gift cards are also easy to store and distributed easily.
The Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund has been activated to accept financial donations: https://appealswa.org.au/
The Shire is also liaising with the Shire’s of Mundaring, Chittering and Swan and discussing what practical assistance those Shire’s may require in the days and months ahead. Will keep you posted as best we can.
